So basically the main things you wanna use are foundation, eyeliner, mascara, eye shadow, blush, and lip gloss. For eyeliner, you can use liquid or a pencil. For this just apply it on your lid carefully. You just have to draw a line along your lashline. It is very important to obviously do the top and bottom. Then for eye shadow, put this on first before eyeliner or mascara. Depending on what color, do a gradient of dark to light. Make a whitish shade just under your eyebrow. For blush, try to highlight your cheekbones by sweeping up. And lipgloss...well apply that in copious amounts.

Go to a make-up counter at a major department store, like Estee Lauder, MAC, or Bobbi Brown. Pay attention to the techniques. Spend the money there on products like good moisturizers, foundations, and powders, but go to the drugstore for eye shadows and such.

For first timers, I suggest going to a professional make up counter and telling the associate your problem. They will assist you and help you pick out the most flattering colors and shades for your skin tone. Pay close attention to what they do, and even ask questions if necessary. From there, just go home and practice. On those evenings that you have nothing to do, simply make up your face and try all kinds of color combinations.

Ask another woman. Your mother, an aunt, female cousin, etc. who wears makeup nicely.
