I'm fifteen years old, and have a medical condition that keeps me off school for quite a while. Over the past few months I've been playing and experimenting with make up to pass the time, and I really love it! How do I get into it professionally? Thanks in advance.

First of all, you will need an education if you really want to get into it professionally. You're going to want to take a course at college that offers the chance to learn how to apply make-up and different styles to widen your knowledge. With make-up, you generally would be better off with having a form of qualification in art as it shows creativity which is highly important. I am currently in year 11 and going to be doing my exams soon. I am doing Art Textiles as part of my GCSEs and am lucky enough to be doing a pre-16 Diploma in Hair and Beauty which means I have already learnt a fair amount on make-up as well as doing my own personal learning and experimenting from home. If you want a wide range of different make-up you can do, I recommend you look into doing a Media Make-Up course at college. Some colleges might call this course the Production Arts course. On a course like that, you will learn about all the different styles of make-up from body painting to fashion make-up as well as special effects and hair styling and some places also do wig making. If you are only interested in doing fashion make-up then I recommend you take a Beauty Therapy course as they will teach you about fashion make-up alone as all the other knowledge you'd get from the other course would go to waste. After college, you can proceed to specialise in a certain area at University but that is optional. If you want to know more about the courses at University, I recommend you look at the London University of Art as they offer a wide selection of courses based on the make-up industry. I hope this helps!

Well first you need to educate your self and going to a school for that will be great but you can also learn In other places as well.

My first recommendation Is Youtube...yep Youtube.there is actually hundreds of make up gurus that shows beautiful makeup tutorials and things you should know about.I also recommend learning the history about makeup and how it evolved.

Here are the name of the channels I love on Youtube.

To get into it professionally you have to know exactly what your doing.buy makeup books(Robert Jones has a great book that's out right now) and educate yourself.and remember that makeup is fun!

I hope I helped.Take care :)
