Question:
Where can I find beginner makeup tutorials?
2012-07-24 16:32:12 UTC
I am a beginner ( and i mean super-duper-no-nothing-at-all-please-help-kind-of-beginner)
I want to start using makeup and knowing what's the difference between primer and concealer and foundation and i probably sound like a giant idiot. I've been looking all over google and youtube for vids or tutorials but whole 100% what everything and everything is. Where to buy makeup because i cant find "Mac". My friends know this stuff and i dont. I tried to ask my mom what to do but she says im doing fine. I dont think mixing foundation and blush powder together and putting it on a zit is good. Please please help!!! I feel really retarded right now... lol

Mac is a high line cosmetic and that specific brand tends to cause breakouts. To get Mac, Clinique, or Sephora you need to go to Macy's. They sell it there.

Blush, goes on your cheek bones. Don't mix that with concealer. You want to choose a blush that's more of a bronzing color. You want it close to your skin color (a little darker) to high light those features. You can YouTube videos on your face shape on how to highlight your features.

Concealer is meant to cover up blemishes and wrinkles. It's a thicker substance than foundation. Foundation makes your face not look greasy and adds a sort of nice look to it (don't over do it) buy one that will blend in with your skin color. You can test it by taking a bit on your finger (use concealer to test this and then buy the foundation with the same pigmentation) and rub it into the underside or your forearm. The fleshy part near your elbow. Your palm should be face up. If it blends to wear you can't see it anymore that's the color you need.

I suggest you don't buy concealer. It can look caked on and is meant for older people anyway.

When using foundation just lightly brush your face with it and that's it.

Don't mix blush and the foundation. You'll look weird honestly and caking it on a zit won't help.

If you want a product that won't cause breakouts you can go high end and get Clinique or sephora or you can buy neutrogena or any mineral base powder (neutrogena and Rimmel work best, others such as L'oreal and CoverGirl get mixed reviews)

You want to accent your feature and keep a natural look.

Most people just use trial and error. You won't find many people who have taken a class to put on foundation. And you're right about not putting blush on acne, isn't the point to conceal the redness?? You are thinking too much about this. Wear powder foundation, use spot concealer on acne, don't wear blush, and Mac makeup is too expensive for someone who can't even apply makeup is the best advice I can give you.

You can buy Mac at macys and ubran decay, stilla, tart at sephroa.

On youtube type bubzbeauty beginner makeup and you will be covered!

conclear is just for spot areas (under eyes zits)

foundation is usally thicker and you apply all over the face

to cover a zit dab a little bit off conclear on it NOT FOUNDATION haha

to apply blush smile and apple lightly on apples of cheeks

to apply bronzer make a fish face and gently apply in the hollows of your cheeks

primer goes on before ANYTHING else and is applyed all over the face so that your makeup lasts all day and looks smooth and natural
