i say invest in descent quality make up for things like foundation and mascara, there are a lot of drugstore make up brands that are quite affordable, but the brand eyeslipsface is the best for inexpensive, but still good make up. i prefer their studio line because the some items on the regular items are not so great quality, but i think that everything on their studio line is as good quality as drugstore products, but so much cheaper (usually $3 per item) if you need more help with this brand, read the reveiws on this website, and there are lots of review videos on youtube.

I love high-end makeup too, and as a college grad with a job, I can afford to treat myself. But, I'll tell you one thing, there are some pretty good makeup 'dupes' out there. Dupes are makeup made by other companies (like Covergirl, Revlon, Rimmel, etc) that look just like products that MAC or Nars but (obviously) cost a lot less. You can search for dupes of specific products, and you can find forums online where women have tried the expensive products as well as cheaper ones, then post their results. Sometimes the expensive brands are not the best, and you can get just as good or better with other brands. That's one way of finding the good stuff without spending the money, but if you really want more expensive makeup, you're just gonna have to get a job. Start local, maybe do some nannying for people you know, then get into "real" jobs when you're old enough (with parents' permission you can often get a job working for a cafe or restaurant at 15). Oh, and remember that Sephora brand products are a little cheaper than MAC, so if there's a blush or eyeshadow that you love from MAC, you can usually get a comparable shade from Sephora for a few bucks less. Good luck, and have fun!

Revlon's foundations and powders work wonders and maybellines mascaras are to die for. u can build a well suitable good collection with these products and rimmel has some good things too. just go to your local drugstore and find some things you like.

You do not need to spend money for good quality products.

You can get many brands of high end makeup for half off at CVS and Walgreens during sales. I've gotten some make-up totally free at Walgreens by watching for register reward deals. Register rewards are coupons that print up at the register when you buy qualifying items. You get a lot of things free such as shavers, shampoo, body wash, shaving cream and more free doing register reward deals.

Building a quality makeup collection doesn't mean you need to spend a lot of money. You can amass a collection consisting of both high-end brands and drugstore brands without sacrificing quality. Most important, you can create a makeup collection that will reflect your personal needs and style.

•Step 1

Determine your budget. It is best to set a monthly expenditure you can afford, since many makeup items need to be replaced often.

•Step 2

Learn where to spend the money. For example, you will spend more money on quality mineral makeup or foundation than on mascara or lip gloss; knowing where and when to spend and where to save is valuable in building your collection. Products that you use more often, like foundation or eyeliner, are worth investing in.

•Step 3

Pick and choose. You may love the gel eyeliner and brush from an expensive brand, but you do not need to remain completely faithful to that brand. You will add variety and quality to your collection by picking and choosing from high-end cosmetics and drugstore brands. Many drugstore makeup brands carry items that are comparable to the big names, and sometimes even better.

•Step 4

Purchase quality makeup tools. Eyelash curlers, eyeshadow brushes, eyeliner brushes and face brushes are well worth a higher price tag. You can be assured that they will not come apart or wear out quickly and will apply your makeup flawlessly.

•Step 5

Skimp on items such as lip gloss, blush, mascara and makeup bags or organizers. These can be found at beauty discount stores or drugstores. An item like mascara is the perfect place to save money, since it will need to be replaced every 2 to 3 months.

•Step 6

Get a free makeup application at a department or makeup store. Purchase only the items you truly need, then head to your favorite beauty discount or drugstore to see if you can imitate the look. Compare eyeshadow and lip gloss colors and see if you can copy the high-end look for less.

I'm like you. The only money I have is chore money. So, I have to stretch my dollar with everything. What I suggest is buying a few key pieces at a time. For example, tonight I got some money so I got a foundation that I needed, and a mascara I had been dying to have! Those are two basic essentials. Then, once you have a few of those, you can get smaller things like glosses and eyeshadows and blushes and bronzers and stuff.

I like Maybelliene a lot!

Don't buy cheap brands....cause you will just end up with a bunch of crap makeup. Search for sales and wholesale places. I LOVE allcosmeticswholesale.com.

a makeup collection is NOT CHEAP. dont think about going to the drug store and getting tons of crap:) my advice to you is to save, then buy nice makeup as sephora, ulta, or MAC. avoid wholesale makeup sites, ebay, and possibly amazon.com? not sure :/

You don't! sorry, but if you're short on money, then i suggest only getting 2 or 3 make up items a week (assuming you work weekly)
